The town is a very popular summer destination and is a renowned beach resort which results in the town getting many visitors in the warmer months. A great place to visit while in the Town of Southampton is the Southampton Historical Museum. This museum has been preserving historical buildings, collection artifacts, and documents which all help teach people about the traditions of the South Fork of Long Island. The museum shows how life was in Southampton post Civil War. If you are looking for an interesting place to camp out for the night, visit Shinnecock East County Park. Here, you can drive onto the beach and camp out. You cannot use a tent to camp here so most people will use an RV to stay overnight. It is a great place to relax with a waterfront view and go fishing. You can use either Bay Beach or Ocean Beach since the park is connected to both.
