The Long Island Fair

Celebrating 177 years of Long Island agriculture, the Long Island Fair hosts competitions in categories such as culinary, horticulture, livestock, needlework, and hobbies. Additionally, there is traditional entertainment, band concerts, exotic petting zoo, and children’s games and races. From 10:00 am – 5:00 pm Saturday and Sunday at the Old Bethpage Village Restoration. $15, $13 for ages 5-12.

Greenport Maritime Festival

Hosted by the East End Seaport Museum and Marine Foundation, this festival kicks off Friday night with the “Land and Sea” Gala at the Greenport Yacht and Shipbuilding Co at 6:30 pm. Tickets are $150 and $250 for VIP access at 5:30. Then on Saturday, the festival continues with a parade at 11:00 am plus kayak races, a chowder and snapper contest, and electric boat harbor tours.

Cow Harbor Day

Northport’s biggest weekend of the year kicks off with a 10k run around Northport Village at 8:30 am on Saturday. Then head to the village park for a concert and lighted boat display at 8:00 pm. The parade starts at noon on Sunday and travels down Main Street followed by sidewalk sales, rides, waterfront activities, games and arts, and crafts vendors. Free, $45 race registration.

DogFest Long Island

Take your dogs to Tanger Outlets in Deer Park on Saturday from 10:30 am – 3:00 pm for DogFest sponsored by Canine Companions for Independence. There will be a canine costume parade, family-friendly games, a dog walk, and canine-related activities including an agility course.

Long Island Hop Fest

Sample locally brewed beers, seasonal brews, “wet” hop beers at the Long Island Hop Fest hosted by the Jamesport Farm Brewery in Riverhead. There will also be live music and a giant slingshot set up for pumpkin chucking. Admission is $45, or $12 for a designated driver. Saturday 12:30 pm – 4:30 pm.

Pickle Festival

The 40th annual Pickle Festival will be held on Saturday from 10:00 am – 5:00 pm at John Gardiner Farm in Huntington. You’ll find specialty pickles for sale, pickles on a stick, a pickle history display, baked goods, farmers market, train & hayrides, and an antique car display. $5.00 admission, free ages younger than 12.

Family Festival by The Sea

This family-fun Town of Hempstead event features rides and games for all ages, food, concerts, and craft vendors. Held at the Lido Beach Town Park September 19-22 it opens at 5:00 pm on Friday, and 11:00 am Saturday & Sunday. Admission is free, tickets can be purchased online in advance for rides.
